Pew Internet & American Life Project, the percentage of adults who use social networking sites has more than quadrupled in the past three years – from 8% in 2005 to 35% in 2008. Their tracking report shows the following breakdown in usage by age: • 65% of American teens have profiles and use one or more networking sites • 75% of adults 18-24 have a profile on a social network • 57% of adults 25-34 have a profile on a social network • 30% of adults 35-44 have a profile on a social network • 19% of adults 45-54 have a profile on a social network • 10% of adults 55-64 have a profile on a social network • 7% of adults 65 and older have a profile on a social network
